Hazleton Area Public Libraries  *

  • The main library in Hazleton will be open Mon – Thurs 9am –6pm, Friday from 9am-5pm, and Saturday from 9am-4pm.
  • Our branches in Conyngham and Freeland will be open Monday & Wednesday 1pm-6pm, Tuesday & Thursday from 9am-12pm & 1pm-5pm, Friday from 12pm-5pm and Saturday from 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm.
  • Our Nuremberg branch will be open Monday and Tuesday 10am-12pm and 1pm-5pm, Wednesday 2pm – 6pm, CLOSED on Thursday and Friday from 1pm – 5pm.
  • Our South Side branch located inside the McAdoo Kelayres Elementary/Middle School will be open 3pm-6pm, Monday-Wednesday.
  • Branches in Conyngham, Freeland and Nuremberg are also scheduled to reopen with their regular summer schedule.
  • Our SouthSide Branch in McAdoo will remain closed to the public but will continue to offer curbside pick-up.

  • The library is now open:
    Tuesday-Wednesday, 9am-8pm
    Thursday-Friday, 9am-5pm
    Saturday, 9am - 4pm

  • Masks are no longer required at this library.
  • The safety of our community, staff, and volunteers is important to us. For those who are not vaccinated, especially children, we encourage you to wear a mask.
  • If you do not feel well, in any way, please do not come in.
  • No material donations are not being accepted at this time.

  • The library is offering limited pickup services.
  • Patrons may place holds by calling the library at (570) 735-3030 to speak with a staff member.
  • Hours for requesting and picking up holds will be 10 am to 7 pm Tuesday through Thursday and 10 am to 5pm Friday and Saturday.
  • Patrons will be able to pick up holds at the front of the library.
  • Holds will only be for materials from the Mill Memorial Library.
  • No inter-library loans will take place at this time.
  • Members of the public will not be allowed inside the library for any reason at this time.
  • Patrons must indicate the date and time when they will pick up the materials.
  • Beginning Tuesday July 21st, we will be offering curbside faxes and copies. Patrons must call the library to schedule an appointment. Upon arrival, patrons must have their originals ready. Patrons must wait outside as the staff completes the copy and/or fax process. Patrons must wear masks and practice social distancing (copies are black and white only, 25 cents per page; to send a fax it is $3.00 up to 5 pages and $1.00 for each addtional page).
  • We will also be accepting again books, audio books, and DVDs that are in a new or excellent condition.
  • The library cannot accept the following materials:

    • Encyclopedias
    • Textbooks
    • Dictionaries and Reference Materials
    • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
    • Audio Cassettes
    • Vinyl Records
    • Video Cassettes (VHS Tapes)

  • In addition, we cannot accept materials that are damaged, torn, stained, dirty, or have an odor from smoke, mildew, etc.
  • Please call the library before donating materials - (570) 735-3030 - with the quantity and a description of the materials.
  • Please do not place donated materials in the book return outside.
  • Patrons must wear masks and practice proper social distancing while picking up their materials.
  • These policies will be reviewed and updated when necessary, depending on how the state and county reopens.

  • The Pittston Memorial Library has updated their hours effective 6/1/21

    • Monday -12:00-7:00
    • Tuesday -9:00-5:00
    • Thursday -12:00-7:00
    • Friday -9:00-5:00
    • Saturday 9:00-2:00

  • For the safety of all staff and patrons, the following guidelines are set in place:

    • 1. Masks are required to be worn while visiting the library.
    • 2. Patrons may browse the collection and take items out.
    • 3. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
    • 4. Social distance guidelines will be observed within the library.
    • 5. A total of 15 patrons can use the library at one time.
    • 6. There are no public computers available at this time.
    • 8. There are no public restrooms or public seating.
    • 9. All library materials will be returned in the book return. Returned materials will be placed in quarantine for seven days.
    • 10. Staff will make photocopies and send copies and faxes for patrons.
    • 11. Curbside pickup requested by phone will be available for patrons who do not want to enter the library.
    • 12. The Community Room is closed to all outside groups.

  • For the safety of the staff and other patrons, we ask that you stay home if you are sick.

  • Hours of operation beginning August 2: Monday – Wednesday: 9:00 - 5:00 | Thursday: CLOSED | Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m | Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m

  • For the safety of all staff and patrons, the following guidelines are set in place:

    • Staff, volunteers, and patrons who are fully vaccinated do not have to wear a mask while visiting the library.
    • All unvaccinated staff, volunteers, and patrons must properly wear a mask and practice social distancing while visiting the library (This includes partially vaccinated patrons*).
    •      (*You are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after your 2nd dose of a 2-dose vaccine series or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine.)
    • If you are unable to wear a mask due to medical reasons, the staff can arrange curbside services.
    • Staff will not ask patrons to show vaccination cards.
    • The library will continue to watch guidance from the CDC, as well as state and local public health agencies.
